At PrivSense, we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Mac application and our support services.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 PrivSense Mac Application
Local Processing Only: PrivSense is designed with privacy as a core principle. Camera and microphone monitoring happens entirely on your Mac. We do not:
- Upload camera or microphone audio/video content to any server
- Record or capture the contents of your camera or microphone streams
- Transmit event logs, app attribution, or usage history over the internet
- Collect analytics about which apps you use or when hardware is active
PrivSense observes system-level indicators of camera and microphone use (such as whether hardware is active and best-effort app attribution) and stores related event history locally on your Mac. That data stays on your device unless you choose to export it (for example, to CSV).
1.2 Support Ticketing System
When you contact us through our support system, we collect the following information:
- Google Account Information: If you sign in with Google (required for ticket creation), we collect your name and email address from your Google account.
- Support Ticket Data: Any information you provide in your support tickets, including subject, messages, and any optional identifiers you choose to provide.
- Technical Information: Ticket ID, creation date, and status for ticket management.
2. How We Use Your Information
2.1 PrivSense Mac Application
Since PrivSense processes monitoring data locally on your device, we do not use or access information about your camera, microphone, event log, or which apps are using hardware. The application operates independently on your Mac.
2.2 Support Services
We use the information collected through our support system to:
- Respond to your support requests and provide customer service
- Communicate with you about your support tickets
- Improve our support services
- Resolve technical issues and bugs
3. Data Storage and Security
3.1 PrivSense Mac Application
Status indicators, device lists, and event history remain on your Mac. No monitoring data is stored on our servers. Optional exports (such as CSV) are created only when you request them and are saved where you choose on your device.
3.2 Support Ticketing System
Support ticket data is stored in a SQLite database on our secure servers. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including:
- Encrypted database storage
- Secure server infrastructure
- Access controls and authentication
- Regular security updates
4. Third-Party Services
4.1 Google Sign-In
Our support system uses Google Sign-In for authentication. When you sign in with Google:
- Google's Privacy Policy applies to the authentication process
- We only receive your name and email address
- We do not have access to your Google password
- You can revoke access at any time through your Google account settings
For more information about how Google handles your data, please review Google's Privacy Policy.
4.2 macOS Privacy (TCC)
PrivSense does not silently revoke or modify system TCC permissions. When you choose to manage permissions, PrivSense may open macOS Privacy Settings so you can make changes yourself. Quitting an app ends that app’s current session; it does not change system permission grants.
5. Cookies and Session Data
Our support system uses session cookies to:
- Maintain your login session (for administrators)
- Verify CAPTCHA responses
- Track support ticket conversations
These cookies are essential for the functionality of our support system and do not track your browsing activity outside of our support pages.
6. Data Retention
We retain support ticket data for as long as necessary to:
- Provide support and respond to your inquiries
- Comply with legal obligations
- Resolve disputes and enforce our agreements
Event history stored by the Mac app remains under your control on your device. You may clear or export it from within the app. You may request deletion of your support ticket data at any time by contacting us through our support system.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of your support ticket data
- Correction: Update or correct your information
- Deletion: Request deletion of your support ticket data
- Objection: Object to certain processing of your data
- Data Portability: Request your data in a portable format
To exercise these rights, please contact us through our support system or use the contact information provided below.
8. Children's Privacy
PrivSense and our support services are not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately so we can delete the information.
9. International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. These countries may have data protection laws that differ from those in your country. We take appropriate safeguards to ensure your data is protected in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:
- Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
